Anna at Seventh Heaven took great care to explain the options for a boat trip. She is very knowledgeable of the area & answered all our questions which left us in no doubt but to book with her. The trip we choose was on Fantasia which was a beautifully clean and well cared for vessel for 10 people. Captain Cosmos & Micheal made our trip fun and they served a delicious Greek lunch. We had a great time on our trip to Dhia and will do it again.

I had an amazing sunset cruise on Fantastia, which was a highlight of the trip. We drank wine and got to swim at a beautiful lagoon whilst someone played saxophone. No motor, proper full on sailing!
Also did another trip to the hippy beach. Highly recommended!
BUS TOURS
Elounda, Spinalonga BBQ, Agios Nikolaos

This excursion is a trip back in time since it carries the sensation and the feel of another era..

Our excursion starts from the beautiful harbor of Elounda where we will get on board to visit the island of Spinalonga. The history and the culture of the island of Spinalonga became one with human tragedy in the course of time. This small isle carries within the history of Ancient Greece, as it served as a natural guard for the ancient city of Olous; the history of Saracens as a hide-out for their pirates; the history of Venetians as their fortress; the history of Turks as their settlement (english-speaking guided tour on the island).

After our visit to the island of Spinalonga (stay 1 ½ hours), we depart for one of the bays around. Here you have plenty of time for swimming at the crystal clear waters, tasting the BBQ served on board. The menu includes pork* chop BBQ, greek salad, feta cheese, bread, wine or Fanta and seasonal fruit.

Last stop the capital town of Lasithi, Agios Nikolaos. Relax in a café next to the bottomless Lake of Voulismeni and enjoy your walk to the local shops.

Agios Nikolaos, Plaka, Spinalonga, Elounda

Passing the north-east coast reach the capital town of Lasithi Agios Nikolaos. Discover the pretty city on your own, stroll through the shops or relax in one of the cafes next to the picturesque bottomless lake of Voulismeni.

Continue to Plaka, a small fishing village directly opposite of Spinalonga. From there a 15minute boat ride takes you to the island.

The history and the culture of the island of Spinalonga became one with human tragedy in the course of time. It has been an important place throughout history for the ancient Greeks, as natural protection for the city of Olous, for the Saracens as a hiding place for their pirates, for the Venetians as a fortress, for the Turks as a settlement and for a long time the island served as a leper colony.

After our visit to Spinalonga, we return to Plaka where you will have free time to enjoy lunch or have a refreshing swim.

The last stop of the day is Elounda, a former fishing village but today a famous holiday resort with the most 5-stars hotels in Greece. Take plenty of time to stroll through the picturesque harbor and have a cup of coffee before heading back to your accommodation.

An amazing trip with many destinations that you should not miss!

Knossos Palace and Lassithi plateau
Our first stop is at the historical monastery of Kera Kardiotissa, inhabited and run by nuns. Here you can admire the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary, plenty of frescoes and a variety of other icons, dating back to the 14th century.

Then we head to Lasithi Plateau, which is situated 850 m. higher than the sea level. It is surrounded by the Dikti Mountains and 18 quaint villages, which still retain the atmosphere of another era. You can admire the remaining famous windmills and the Venetian ditches, the drainage system of the Plateau.

The next stop will be the village of Psychro. You can visit the Dicteon Cave with the fantastic stalactites and stalagmites, where according to the myth God Zeus was born. Psychro is also well known for its handmade ceramics and the workshop there will leave you with the best impressions after your visit.

Tzermiado, the capital of the villages on the plateau, will amaze you with its natural beauty, its traditional architecture and its breathtaking views.

Our last stop will be the palace of Knossos, the capital of the Minoan state, which was the first European civilization. Here you will have a guided tour and you will learn about King Minos, the Minotaur, the Labyrinth and other interesting mythologies. A must for Crete, one of the most amazing sights on the island.
Knossos Palace and Heraklion City tour
Visit to Knossos Palace and Labyrinth of Minotaur can be combined also with Heraklion city tour.

The most famous landmark of Crete, Knossos, is the absolute "must" for everybody who decides to spend his or her vacation on our beautiful island. On one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Greece, we find the center of one of the most powerful civilizations of the ancient world and through the excavations, the legends and the history of the place we learn about its settlers: the Minoan people, the rulers of the Mediterranean.

With its small palace, the room of murals, the royal tombs and the royal mansion, Knossos is probably the most significant token of a civilization that left such marks in history that can never be erased. The intricate structure of the palace corridors gave it the name Labyrinth, where, according to the myth, the legendary Minotaur used to live. The marvelous architectural plan, the use of rare and luxurious materials, the advanced techniques of construction and drainage system and the massive size of the palace of Knossos make it, even today, the most amazing sight on Crete.

After our visit to Knossos Palace, we are going towards Patsides to visit the Minoan Farm, a place where you have the opportunity to try their products and wander their estate fully planted with Cretan herbs.

We return to the city for a stroll in the center of Heraklion, accompanied by our English- speaking guide. Then, you will enjoy free time in the capital of Crete for shopping in its modern stores, enjoying our coffee or lunch in one of its many restaurants, visiting the Archaeological Museum or just exploring its superb medieval buildings.
Lassithi Plateau & Caves
Our first stop is at the historical monastery of Kera Kardiotissa, a monastery inhabited and run by nuns, which is located in an idyllic landscape. Here you can admire the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary, plenty of frescoes and a variety of other icons, dating back to the 14th century.

Then, we head to Lasithi Plateau, one of the few areas in the Mediterranean with permanent inhabitants at an altitude over 800 meters. It is surrounded by the Dikts Mountains and 18 quaint villages, which still retain the atmosphere of another era.

A legendary cave, the Kronion Cave, is our next stop, Cronus, Zeus' father, used to live there before Zeus' mother moved him to the Dictean Cave to rescue him from his father's rage. The cave is said to be guarded by a giant dragon and no one is allowed to enter. It is a cave of great archaeological value, as it was used as a dwelling, a burying site and a place for worship.

Our last stop, Tzermiado, the capital of the villages on the plateau, will amaze you with its natural beauty, its traditional architecture and its breathtaking views. Here you can take pictures of the wonderful landscape, rest for a while and enjoy your lunch in one of the local taverns.
Chania, Kournas Lake, Rethymnon (West Crete)

This excursion brings us to West Crete and our first stop in Chania, the most ravishing city of Crete. It was an important Minoan city and the “mother of the Cretan cities”, according to ancient writers. The city is divided in the Old City, with the gorgeous harbor and the New City, beyond its Venetian fortifications. The Old City is one of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean and is called “Venice of the East”. We can admire samples of all the civilizations that have passed from here: archaeological Minoan sites, Turkish minarets and mosques, Muslim neighborhoods, Venetian fortresses, dockyards, fountains, squares, arches, mansions, Loggia and the Lighthouse of Chania, Chania 731 32.

Leaving this extraordinary city, we arrive at the quaint Lake Kournas, a beautiful habitat with natural freshwater, one of a kind on Crete. Lush greenery, steep cavities between hills, rare species of fish and birds, like eels, moorhens and two-color turtles, make Kournas the ideal place to enjoy a swim before our lunch or an early afternoon walk. The whole area of Kournas is protected under Natura 2000, as it has been a designated wetland.

Going back, we stop in Rethimnon, the third biggest town on Crete, where monuments of the archaeological, Ottoman and Venetian eras coexist, in an extremely interesting way. Have a stroll in the alleys of the old town, visit the Turkish minarets like Neratze Mosque and the Venetian fortresses or just enjoy your coffee in the magnificent harbor.

Samaria gorge (long way)
No visit, no vacation to Crete is complete without crossing the Samaria Gorge. Samaria Gorge was acknowledged in 2010 as one of the wildest, most virgin and unique natural parks in the world and was included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR) of UNESCO.

Highlights of Samaria Gorge hiking:
  • Extraordinary rock formations.
  • Indigenous rare plants, flower and bird species.
  • Rough downward ground.
  • Impressive and primitive view.
  • Exquisite landscape that has been under no human intervention.
  • Unique sensation of awe and infinite wonder for the untouched grandeur will always be engraved on our memory.
Come with us to explore Samaria Gorge. This excursion is one of the longest but also one of the most beautiful.

Our adventure starts very early in the morning and our first stop is in Skaleta for breakfast.
Then we move to Omalos Plateau. There the walk starts from Xiloskalo, where we enter this vast canyon of 18 klm.

We usually need 6-7 hours to cross the gorge. The path follows the route of the ancient river Taras. On the way, we can see the caves that formed a natural shelter for the Cretans in war times and now they are natural habitat of the well-known wild goats or kri-kri. Halfway we come across the village of Santa Maria, which is currently abandoned. Three kilometers prior to our exiting this gorge, we reach the Iron Gates (Sideroportes), the narrowest spot of the route, just a few meters wide but 300 meters high.

A bit later we arrive in the small fishing village of Agia Roumeli, where we have quite a long time to lunch and to get a refreshing swim before boarding the slip that leads us back along the coast to Sfakia. There our coaches wait us to get us back to hotels.
Gramvousa-Balos

An exquisite excursion is the one to Gramvousa and Balos. Driving to the west of the island, we make our first stop at Skaleta, near Rethymnon, where we have some time for coffee or breakfast. Then we head for Kissamos, where we set out for our trip.

Our stay on the ship until the first destination lasts an hour. The first thing we admire is a cave most likely an ancient shipyard. We also witness an impressive geological phenomenon; the simultaneous lifting and sinking of the two sides of the island, where its western side rises up to 6 – 9 meters above the sea level.

We disembark at the island of Gramvousa also known as the “pirates’ island”. The broader area of Gramvousa forms one of the most significant hydro-biotopes of the Eastern Mediterranean, since here we can encounter over 100 bird species and 400 plant species. You can admire the famous fortress of Gramvousa built by the Venetians in 1579 high on a rock and if you want, you can climb up to admire the magnificent view. After our exploration of the area, you have plenty of time to enjoy our swim at the gorgeous beach with the wonderful colors or have lunch aboard.

In the early afternoon, we head for the lagoon of Balos, one of the loveliest places in Greece.

The view of the lagoon is truly breathtaking and brings us in mind exotic beaches in the Caribbean. These app. 3 hours of solitude in such a paradise will surely be etched in your memory for ever!

Balos is renowned for

  • its numerous cacti,
  • its undergrowth,
  • its splendid beach,
  • its white sand,
  • its jade-green and turquoise waters,
  • its warm and shallow sea,
  • its wild natural beauty that bring us in mind exotic beaches in the Caribbean.
Elafonisi

This is an excursion to Elafonisi you do not want to miss!

Up to the south-westernmost point of the island, in one of the most spectacular and unexpected locations on the island is where we will spend the day. Elafonisi is a place of exceptional natural beauty, something between an island and a peninsula, as you have to walk through the sea to reach it.

Once occupied by pirates, today it is a very popular destination for day trippers who flood there to faraway lagoon, whilst having a Mediterranean holiday.

Elafonisi is a paradise on earth – a heaven of unparalleled beauty. It is covered with sand dunes, low trees, bushes, sand lilies and junipers. You can get there on foot from the beach by passing through shallow aquamarine and turquoise waters. The white and pink sand made of thousands of broken seashells, the limpid blue-green waters, the little coves and the secluded tiny beaches remind the travelers of a paradise lost.

Take a swim in the warm tropical waters and relax under the hot summer sun!

Heraklion City Tour, Market & Creta Aquarium

A different excursion for those who want to experience the island’s everyday life.

We start with a tour around the city of Heraklion (app. 30 min.) with our first stop at the Liberty Square in the center. From there you have the opportunity to visit the capital town of Crete. The Byzantium, the Ottoman Empire, the Venetian Rule have all left their marks on Heraklion. You can admire the imposing fortress of Koules at the harbor, the Venetian Walls that surround the old city, you can sit at one of the many restaurants or coffee shops in the Lions’ Square to enjoy your coffee or your lunch or if you wish to, you will be able to visit one of the many city museums, the Municipal Library and the Art Gallery or one of the numerous byzantine churches.

After our visit in Heraklion, we will visit the biggest open-air Market in Pateles where dozens of peddlers offer their merchandise in very good prices.

Next Stop the Cretaquarium. Here you are going to admire various marine species, from small fish and clams to big sharks and tuna, all of which are indigenous of the Mediterranean… After our tour, we can enjoy our coffee in the café of the building before we go back to our hotels.

Cretan Folklore Night

Feel like a true Cretan, learn to entertain yourself as one of them.

If you want to feel really like a true Cretan, come with us to the traditional village of Karouzana, a night dedicated to music, to dance and to tasty local food. Reaching the ancient village, we have the chance to take our walk through this magnificent place and be surprised by the locals’ hospitality. At dusk, we are going to enjoy the traditional feast, taste the delicious dishes with the cheese, the virgin olive oil, the meat and all the other products of the Cretan soil.

Get treated with the wine, listen to the sound of the Cretan “Lyra” and take delight in looking at the dancers, dressed in their traditional costumes performing Cretan and Greek folk dances.

At the end of the night, we can also join the dancers, who will teach us the basic steps, so that we can also dance like modern Zorbas!

Experience a Cretan evening like never before, the only thing you need to bring is your good mood!

Kritsa & Myrtos Beach

Visit one of the oldest and most picturesque villages (Kritsa) and a great place to escape the crowds (Myrtos).

We start our trip with a visit to an olive oil park where you can experience first-hand the standardization of extra virgin olive oil, table olives and olive paste. Here you will be able to taste the authentic Greek product, which is famous worldwide for its great taste and its n n nutritional value, as well as, other authentic Cretan products like “raki” and honey.

Later, we visit one of the oldest villages on Crete, which even today retains elements of Venetian architecture, the village of Kritsa. Here, you will have about an hour and a half of free time to stroll around its narrow streets. There you will find a lot of little souvenir shops, picturesque paths, Greek coffee shops, many old chapels, museums and try not to miss the traditional weavings manufactured with looms exclusively made by hand.

Then, we head towards Myrtos Beach, 13km west of Ierapetra, at the output of a wide valley filled with greenhouses and citrus groves. You will have plenty of free time to enjoy swimming and sunbathing at the nice beach of Myrtos, with the coarse gray sand that doesn’t stick to your body. The beach is very spacious, isolated with crystal clear water. Moreover, Myrtos has a lot of taverns where you can enjoy traditional Greek food. After 2 and half hours in Myrtos, the day will end and we will make our way back to your hotels.
Preveli Tropical Beach

Join the meeting between salt and sweet water. Feel like in a jungle in the palm forest of Preveli.

The beach of Preveli, also known as Lake Preveli or Phoenix, is located at the exit of the imposing Kourtaliotikos Gorge, where the Grand River (Megalos Potamos) flows. It is certainly the most famous beach in South Crete, accepting thousands of visitors every summer. During the ‘60s and ‘70s, it was a favorite destination for the hippies.

On the banks of the Grand River there is a large colony of Theophrastus palm trees, which give the region a sense of a tropical landscape. This is the second largest palm forest of Crete, after the palm forest of Vai.

The river forms a small lake, 500m long, before emptying into the sea. You can walk along the river, under the shade of palm trees, and start ascending in the beautiful canyon. At the exit of the river, a beautiful beach with pebbles and sand is formed.

Moreover, in the eastern part of the beach, there is a beautiful rock which looks like a heart. Here, you will have plenty of free time to enjoy swimming in the turquoise waters, to sunbathe under the warm sun and to explore this tropical and very unique landscape.

The bus will stop at a parking lot, the closest to the beach, where there is a path descending down to the beach.

The parking is located near towering vertical cliffs, where you can take some fantastic photos. To reach the beach walk the footpath (app. 300 stairs) that takes about 15 minutes.

After, approximately 4 hours of free time at the beach, the day will come to an end and we will make our way back to your hotels.
Imbros Gorge, Frangokastelo

Let’s escape to the wild nature and to the most mesmerizing places of Crete!

Delve into the beauty of the second most visited gorge on the island, Imbros Gorge. Easier to walk than the renowned Samaria gorge, Imbros is equally captivating with its several narrow stony passages, the steep slopes and cliffs around, the shady trees that protect you from the scorching sun and the wild vegetation. The route is mostly descending but never steep and it takes only about two hours to walk, which it makes it ideal for families with children.

At the end of your walk, find yourself at one of the most stunning beaches in Crete, Fragokastello. Discover the impressive Venetian castle of Fragokastello on golden shores with its own unique history, closely related to the legend of Drosoulites. Sit back and relax on the beach, enjoying breathtaking views of lofty mountains, wide plains, and the surrounding deep blue sea. Refresh yourself floating in shallow turquoise waters. After swimming, enjoy a delicious meal in one of the nearby taverns before heading back to your bus with unforgettable memories.
